Our Cadre5 Lab Partners division has partnered with Enterprise Applications & Business Intelligence group of the Application Development division of the Information Technology Services Directorate (ITSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to recruit a qualified Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with MS Power BI development skills, a proven foundation of Data Science and mid-level Machine Learning and ML Ops skills to design, develop and move BI, Analytics and MLtools to production.
ORNL delivers scientific discoveries and technical breakthroughs needed to realize solutions in energy and national security and provides economic benefit to the nation. This premier research institution located near Knoxville in Oak Ridge, TN, addresses national needs through impactful research and world-leading research centers.
This is a full-time, permanent position that follows a hybrid working model.

- Develop and support:
- Corporate reports and dashboards with Power
BI and other Microsoft reporting tools. - Data warehouse technologies beyond the worlds of Microsoft and SAP. SQL and ML applied experience and a general understanding of their potential use cases.
- Corporate reports and dashboards with Power
- Develop and implement master data management strategy to include implementation of measures to ensure data accuracy, cleanliness, transformation, and accessibility.
- Collaborate with business and scientific/technical customers to understand needs and capture detailed actionable requirements.
- Analyze emerging trends and technologies to provide recommendations for roadmaps and BI strategy including Cubes, SSIS, Visual Studio, Azure Data Factory, SQL, SQL Azure, and ML techniques and solution methods.
- Collaboration with other DOE labs and private sector companies to understand capabilities.
- Follow ORNL and ITSD software quality assurance standards, ITIL effective practices, and project management requirements.
- Provide personal training for end users as needed, on Business Intelligence tools and effective practices.

- A BS in computer science, data science, business analytics management, applied statistical analytics or a related technical field of study and two (2) to four (4) years of aligned experience is required for consideration.
- MS and PhD degree holders in the same fields of study are also encouraged to apply. MS holders should have one (1) to three (3) years of aligned experience. PhD holders may have any amount of experience.
- Prior Microsoft Business Intelligence development experience including requirements gathering, design, and deployment of reporting solutions.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft CoPilot, OpenAI tools and API’s for GPT creation, Large Language Model’s, Generative AI or similar tools.
- Understanding of multidimensional and tabular modeling.
- Experience using SQL Server Database engine (SSMS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
- Candidates must demonstrate:
