As a Triage Nurse (RN), you will provide appropriate medical advice over the phone to our patients according to treatment plans ordered by our oncology and hematology providers, escalating treatment as necessary.
Typical Day and Responsibilities- Provide over‑the‑phone medical advice to patients and their families based on oncology and hematology treatment plans.
- Identify situations that require escalation to providers and act accordingly.
- Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring patients feel comfortable during a challenging time.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of treatment regimens and serve as a resource for patients and clinical team members.
- Navigate Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and other safety guidelines.
- Communicate respectfully and promptly to keep the care team informed.
- Assist with additional tasks as needed, demonstrating a go‑getter work ethic.
- Position requires sitting for extended periods.
- Lifting limited to 40 pounds or less.
- Manual dexterity, full range of motion, and normal vision and hearing required.
- Professional nursing degree required; BSN preferred.
- State of Tennessee nursing license required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
- Must reside in the Knoxville area or be in the process of relocating; position is fully onsite.
- Minimum one year of prior oncology nursing experience preferred.
