Position OverviewThe Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), Communicable and Environmental Diseases and Emergency Preparedness (CEDEP) division, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Jail Vaccination Team within the Viral Hepatitis (VH) Program. This role is responsible for providing nursing care in county jails across East Tennessee, administering vaccines, educating justice‑involved individuals, and supporting program goals to reduce viral hepatitis infection and related health disparities.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Plan and conduct vaccination clinics in county jails.
- Educate individuals about vaccines and viral hepatitis prevention.
- Properly store, transport, and administer vaccines following CDC guidelines.
- Document patient information and complete health records (electronic and paper).
- Track and report vaccinations administered and educational materials provided.
- Participate in program calls and communicate with internal/external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate patient health files and legal records of service.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience equivalent to one year of registered nursing or a bachelor's/graduate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university or a diploma from an accredited nursing school.
- Licensed in Tennessee or holds privilege under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Valid motor vehicle operator license may be required.

About TDH – Viral Hepatitis ProgramThe VH Program works to increase access to diagnosis and treatment, reduce viral hepatitis infection, and address health disparities in Tennessee. Key activities include disease surveillance, outbreak response, improving access to prevention/testing/treatment, and building partnerships to combat the viral hepatitis epidemic.
