Quality Systems Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the Quality Management System in line with the required industry standard accreditation requirements and operational business requirements across the organization through existing and new procedures.
Responsibilities- Develop the Quality Management System strategy and the management arrangements for key milestones demonstrating solid progress against plan
- Regulate, control and improve the quality of all processes throughout operations and the final product by developing systems to meet specifications, customer requirements and audits
- Identify system owners across locations to evaluate, maintain, and improve systems to operational defined quality standards
- Manage, coach, and develop a high performing Quality System team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
- Develop training materials and educate System Owners in all aspects of the quality system and application of procedures
- Update quality documentation in coordination with feedback from system owners concerns
- Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) scorecards for each system
- Set department objectives/KPIs, review and communicate results with all systems owners
- Report metrics to leadership, both written reports and presentations, specifying the achievement of targets and identify any correction actions on non-conformities to the systems required
- Provide technical expertise to the team on SPC / Lean concepts and strategies to drive system improvements
- Help develop and implement statistical process control understanding of measurables while continuously improving cost reduction efforts
- As part of the Leadership team, contribute to new business initiatives, share ideas and recommendations to continuously improve the operation and communicate the impact on Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Acts as liaison between plant personnel, corporate functions and customers building solid relationships between these teams. Effectively communicates urgent issues both internal and external to the Director of Quality & Regulatory Compliance and the site leadership team, as needed. Conducts root cause analysis, develops action plans and coordinates with team members, so that these issues are communicated and resolved quickly & effectively.
- Along with plant management and corporate auditor conduct regular internal and process audits of the QMS
- Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training. Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person. Reports any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and/or any unsafe condition.
- Supports and complies with GMP’s. Understands and follows emergency action plan.
- Supports food safety, quality and legality.
- Ensures the operation is providing food-safe, quality products which meet or exceed all product specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing / Engineering or related discipline
- A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership and document control experience managing, coaching, motivating and developing a collaborative team
- Significant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing
- Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing certification, minimum green belt accredited
- Strategic, persistent, proactive, collaborative, and goal oriented
- Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to proactively lead change within the department and process
- Ability to develop and implement training programs
- Strong training and facilitation skills with ability to effectively present information in a clear manner, demonstrate procedures and respond to questions
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to take on new projects within a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment while managing priorities
- Resourceful and effective decision maker with strategic problem solving and strong analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of the latest Statistical tools and techniques
- Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with leadership and cross-functionally
- Highly proficient in MS Office; must be able to create detailed reports and engaging presentations
- Good financial acumen
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 40% of the time
