Overview

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven Security Technician to join our culture. In a hybrid project/service role, you will install, program, start-up/check-out, certify, and perform end-user training on assigned projects. This role also provides service and technical support for installed systems by responding to service calls, performing troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities, and supporting service agreements. What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”

  • Act as our customer’s best service provider at all times, ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
  • Install, program, test, commission, certify, troubleshoot, repair, and service Fire, Security, Life Safety, and/or Building Automation Systems for small to medium projects and service activities.
  • Respond to routine and non-routine customer service calls, including scheduled maintenance, preventative maintenance, emergency, and after-hours calls; diagnose issues, replace defective components, debug systems, and complete repairs.
  • Serve as a primary technical interface for customers by providing system support, training, and technical assistance, maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, wiring diagrams, and specifications; use standard test instruments and hand tools to resolve system and equipment issues.
  • Execute technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines: programming, graphics development, start-up, certification testing, customer training, close-out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
  • Complete accurate, timely, and detailed service reports, work orders, and project documentation to support invoicing, job cost tracking, compliance, and internal reporting.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations and company health and safety policies and procedures; follow established standards and solid troubleshooting practices.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with team members to improve operations at the Convergint Technology Center and the company.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Convergint products, services, tools, and standards; present a professional image and identify opportunities to promote Convergint services.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; able to meet customer needs without prompting.
  • Technical skills and experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude with hand and power tools (e.g., drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis. Minimal overnight travel may be required.
