Building Maintenance Technician

Talascend is currently seeking a Building Maintenance Technician for a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Knoxville, Tennessee
.

The Building Maintenance Technician will be responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across various systems in a commercial environment. The role requires technical expertise in one craft area, with proficiency in others, to ensure the smooth operation of building systems.

• Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire, life safety, and control systems for the facility to meet standards.
• Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, and technical proficiency.
• Maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment through cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts to ensure optimal performance.
• Record readings and make adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
• Comply with departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
• Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
• Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
• Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to various weather conditions and hazardous materials.
• Assist with physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 2-4 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building systems
• EPA 608 Universal Certification
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and take corrective actions
• Computer literacy for record-keeping and work order systems
• Knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
• Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service

Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
