Overview

Youth Care Specialist role at THOMPSON Child & Family Focus. Thompson is a nonprofit organization serving the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. Our continuum of care includes prevention, mental health services, and foster care. All programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based with the aim of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. What

will you do as a Youth Care Specialist?
  • Provide supervision, support, guidance, and build a therapeutic relationship with the youth in your care.
  • Engage with youth in the program, provide direction, structure and support for their physical and physiological needs; schedule and participate in activities; help maintain a clean and safe physical milieu; complete daily documentation as required by regulatory standards; transport clients as needed for appointments and activities.
  • Travel to various residential facilities within the Knoxville area may be required.
  • Work the rotating schedule below:
    • 1st Shift: 7am–7pm or 2nd Shift: 7pm–7am
    • Week 1:
      Monday, Thursday, Friday
    • Week 2:
      Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday

  • Starting Pay Range: $18 - $21.50/hour based on experience

Requirements
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and meet credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as pertains to the program
  • High School diploma required;
    Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a residential youth or related setting in child and family services
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Full-time employees must work 1st shift (7am–7pm) or 2nd shift (7pm–7am)
