About the Role

Airgas is hiring a CDL Class A Route Driver in Knoxville, TN. The driver will operate Class A and B Hazmat vehicles, transporting gas cylinders to Airgas locations. Typical schedule includes Monday‑Friday from 6 am with home daily and possible weekends on call.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out daily route deliveries, ensuring accurate load manifests and documentation.
  • Maintain cylinder levels, monitor temperature, and adjust loads to prevent emergencies.
  • Safely load, unload, deliver, and retrieve cylinders and hard goods.
  • Foster strong customer relationships and provide cost & delivery info.
  • Use strong verbal skills and English language proficiency for communication, signs, and documentation.
  • Apply analytical problem‑solving for customer inquiries.
  • Self‑motivated, attentive to detail, and goal‑oriented.
Qualifications
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Class A CDL.
  • Hazmat endorsement or ability to obtain within 60 days.
  • Successful background, motor vehicle check, and DOT clearinghouse verification.
  • Ability to lift 25–75 lbs., occasionally 76–100+ lbs.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
  • Commitment to a drug‑free workplace.
  • Adherence to safety regulations and policies.
  • Strong verbal English communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Forklift experience (training and certification provided).
  • Touch freight delivery experience.
  • Hazmat experience preferred.
