Economic Crime Tool & Model Manager
Join us as a Business Banking Economic Crime Tool & Model Manager, where you will play a key role in defining the business requirements, development and testing, monitoring and assessing efficacy and stability, calibrations, and the ongoing optimisation of owned and consumed Economic Crime tools and models that support the organisations’ risk management framework. You will be delivering remediation and strategic action plans to maximise the business’ ability to identify Economic Crime and remain aligned with regulatory requirements, business objectives, and emerging risk trends.
Working closely with Technology, Change, Operations, Decision Analytics, Compliance, and business stakeholders, you will translate business requirements into effective solutions, ensuring that tools and models continue to meet evolving business and regulatory expectations, supported by independent assurance activity.
To be successful as an Economic Crime Tool & Model Manager, you must have the following essential skills:
- Deep understanding of Economic Crime risk management frameworks and associated regulatory requirements within the Financial Services sector.
- Proven experience managing the end-to-end lifecycle of Economic Crime models and tools, including ownership, enhancement, performance optimisation, decommissioning activities and assessing residual risk.
- Proven experience in Economic Crime tools, models, and risk covering.
- Experience producing high-quality business requirements documentation, translating complex business needs into clear and actionable technical requirements.
- Ability to read, understand, interpret, and challenge technical code and model logic to support effective challenge, testing, and ongoing performance management
- Extensive analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess model performance, identify control gaps, and develop strategic action plans to address risks and opportunities including; coverage gaps, data quality issues, model deterioration/drift.
- Deep subject matter expertise in at least one of the following areas and their associated model/tool KRI’s and KPI’s:

- Experience challenging stakeholders with integrity, whilst maintaining positive and effective working relationships
- Experience supporting model validation, testing, and performance assurance activities
- Knowledge of incumbent/industry systems and tools used for Risk Rating, transaction monitoring, and screening
- Knowledge of Fraud detection models and tools
- Experience delivering change initiatives within a complex regulatory environment
- Ability to code and drive analytics e.g. SQL, Python, Power BI, Data visualisation, and statistical analysis.

This role will be based in our London, Knutsford or Northampton office.
Purpose of the roleTo support the Risk Function in delivering it’s objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.
Accountabilities- Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
- Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
- Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
- Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.
