Job Description:

To collaborate with product owners and other technical teams involved in the product development process and utilize their knowledge of the bank’s technologies to enact the vision defined in the product roadmap.

Join us as a SRE at Barclays, where you apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of the systems, platforms, and technology through them.

• Provide subject matter expertise to support the collaboration between the product owner and the technical side of product development.
• Support the development and implementation of the product strategy and vision defined in the product roadmap and communicate them with the relevant stakeholders and the development team.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and prioritise product requirements and features based on business value and feasibility that are well defined, measurable and secure.
• Develop and implement assessments to ensure continuous testing and improvement of product quality and performance.
• Monitor product performance to identify opportunities for optimisation that meet the bank’s performance standards.
• Stay abreast of the latest industry technology trends and technologies, evaluate and adopt new approaches to improve product development and delivery.
• Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
• Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
• Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
• Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, requiring understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub‑function.
• Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
• Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practices (in other areas, teams, companies, etc.) to solve problems creatively and effectively.
• Communicate complex information, including sensitive data that could be difficult to convey given its content or audience.
• Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

• Strong Product Ownership experience within complex technology platforms, including defining product vision, roadmap, and measurable outcomes.
• Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into clear, prioritised requirements for engineering teams.
• Experience operating in a regulated financial services environment, with a solid understanding of risk, controls, and governance.
• Experience in Payments technology or transaction monitoring platforms (highly valued).
• Data‑driven decision making, including use of metrics to assess product performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery ways of working and collaboration with distributed teams.
• Risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology skills relevant to the role.
• Job‑specific technical skills as required.

This role will be based in Knutsford.
