Public Cloud Engineer – Cloud Platform Engineering
Join us as a Public Cloud Engineer, to help design and deliver innovative cloud solutions within the Cloud Platform Engineering team. This role sits within the Cloud Platform Engineering function, which is responsible for building and operating secure, scalable and resilient cloud environments across AWS, Azure and GCP for business‑critical applications. This role supports cloud adoption, contributes to platform engineering standards, and drives operational excellence across cloud services.
Key Responsibilities- Build Engineering:
Development, delivery, and maintenance of high‑quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements, ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Identify appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation and resourcing requirements. - Incident Management:
Monitor IT infrastructure and system performance to identify, address and resolve potential issues, vulnerabilities or outages. Use data to drive down mean time to resolution. - Automation:
Develop and implement automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, utilising software scripting and coding disciplines. - Security:
Implement secure configurations and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber‑attacks, vulnerabilities and other security threats, including protection of hardware, software and data from unauthorised access. - Teamwork:
Collaborate cross‑functionally with product managers, architects and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives via a data‑driven approach. - Learning:
Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Highly developed Python development capability, with practical experience in AWS as a primary cloud platform, including IAM, Cloud Formation and Service Catalog, and a strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Git, relational databases and RESTful APIs.
- Ability to design, build and run cloud services at scale, covering networking, identity and access management, monitoring, resource optimisation and security, and developing Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Cloud Formation or Terraform.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using Git Lab and Python, with the ability to support and guide team members, encourage collaboration and promote engineering and delivery best practices.
- Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP, and in‑depth knowledge of public cloud security best practices.
- Experience with multi‑cloud environments and Kubernetes orchestration, focused on security, availability and performance.
- Knowledge of automated testing approaches such as BDD, TDD or unit testing, and practical understanding of CI/CD concepts and Agile delivery.
