Join Barclays as a Cloud Security Engineer and help drive the security strategy for a modern, large-scale cloud ecosystem. Working at the intersection of cloud engineering, automation, and cyber security, you will be responsible for building secure-by-design solutions, enhancing cloud security posture, and enabling teams to deliver technology safely and at scale.

To be successful as a Cloud Security Engineer
, you should have experience with:

  • Multi-Cloud Security Engineering (AWS, Azure, GCP) - Deep understanding of cloud-native security controls, IAM, networking, monitoring, encryption, and governance across all major cloud platforms.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Policy as Code
    - Strong experience with Terraform, Cloud Formation, ARM/Bicep, Rego/OPA, and automation of security controls, compliance checks, and guardrails.
  • Container & Kubernetes Security
    - Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes/Open Shift, container security, RBAC, network policies, secrets management, runtime protection, and platform hardening.
  • Dev Sec Ops  & CI/CD Automation
    - Experience integrating security into Git Lab/Azure Dev Ops pipelines, automating remediation, managing secrets with Hashi Corp Vault, and embedding security into the software development lifecycle.
  • Cloud Threat & Risk Management
    - Ability to identify, prioritise, and remediate cloud security risks using tools such as Wiz Cloud and Wiz Defend, including vulnerability management, threat detection, incident response, and security posture management
Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • Cloud and security certifications such as AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer, Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist, or equivalent
  • Previous experience in the financial/regulated sector

This role is based in Knutsford

Purpose of the role

To develop, implement and maintain solutions that support the safeguarding of the banks systems and sensitive information.

Accountabilities
  • Provision of subject matter expertise on security systems and engineering patterns.
  • Development and implementation of protocols, algorithms, and software applications to protect sensitive data and systems.
  • Management and protection of secrets, ensuring that they are securely generated, stored, and used.
  • Execution of audits to monitor, identify and assess vulnerabilities in the banks infrastructure/software and support the response to potential security breaches.
  • Identification of advancements in to support the innovation and adoption of new cryptographic technologies and techniques.
  • Collaboration across the bank, including developers and security teams, to ensure that cryptographic solutions align with business objectives, security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Development/ Implementation and maintenance of Identity and Access Management solutions and systems.
