Join us as an IAM Governance Specialist at Barclays, where you will play a key role in strengthening the governance, risk and control environment across Identity and Access Management. The role will include assessing the effectiveness of IAM controls, identifying and challenging control gaps, supporting risk assessments and remediation activities and providing clear governance and oversight across the IAM control environment.

You will help ensure that Identity and access management practices are robust, defensible, and aligned with Barclays' security and regulatory obligations.

To be successful as an IAM Governance Specialist, you should have:

  • IAM Control & Regulatory Expertise - Deep understanding of IAM controls, industry standards, and regulatory requirements such as SOX, NIST, ISO 27001, FCA, FDIC, RBI, etc.
  • Risk Assessment & Analytical Thinking - Ability to identify control gaps, assess risk impact, challenge assumptions, and drive defensible outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Management & Influencing Skills - Ability to drive outcomes across Technology, Control Owners, Audit, Compliance, Operations, and Senior Leadership.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Data Analytics & Reporting - Ability to leverage metrics, dashboards, trend analysis, and detective monitoring to support governance decisions
  • Project & Change Management - Ability to coordinate complex remediation programs, regulatory commitments, and process improvements.
  • Written & Executive Communication - Ability to translate technical IAM issues into concise, executive-friendly language
  • Knowledge of IAM Technologies - Working knowledge of industry IAM platforms such as SailPoint, Entra  (Azure AD), Cyber Ark, or similar technologies.
  • Executive Reporting & Communication - Experience preparing governance packs, risk summaries, metrics, KRIs, and executive-level reporting for senior leadership and governance forums.

This role will be based in Knutsford.

Purpose of the role

To provide support to the Chief Risk Officer(S) in the implementation and ongoing effectiveness of the bank's risk management framework across various business units and functions.

Accountabilities
  • Implementation support of risk management policies, standards, procedures, and controls across the bank.
  • Asessment and promotion of risk management awareness and risk controls and culture.
  • Review, challenge and monitoring of the effectiveness of existing risk management practices and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Identification of new and emerging risks, and assessing the likelihood and impact of identified risks, and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Management and operation of associated committees, forum and meetings.
  • Maintenance of risk inventories and governance documentation.
