Join us as a Facilities Management Sourcing Category Lead at Barclays, to optimise and address Barclays’ third‑party spend requirements. You will be responsible for the definition, development, and implementation of sourcing strategies across Facilities Management, including construction and capital projects suppliers. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders to deliver value through strategic sourcing, supplier optimisation, and effective buying channel development.
To be successful as a Facilities Management Sourcing Category Lead, you should have experience with:
- Strong Negotiation Skills – demonstrated experience leading end‑to‑end commercial negotiations, securing favourable contractual terms, managing risk, and balancing short‑term savings with long‑term strategic value.
- Commercial Acumen – strong understanding of cost drivers, pricing structures, and commercial levers, with the ability to identify opportunities for savings, cost avoidance, and long‑term value creation across Facilities Management (and ideally, capital projects) spend.
- Influencing Skills / Stakeholder Management – proven ability to engage, challenge, and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, ensuring alignment between procurement strategies and business objectives. This includes managing expectations, navigating competing priorities, and driving consensus in complex environments.
- Presentation and Communication – the ability to develop and deliver clear, compelling presentations to senior stakeholders, particularly when securing approval for commercial deals, sourcing strategies, and supplier selections. You should be able to translate complex commercial information into concise, decision‑focused messaging.
- Stakeholder Management – experience building strong, trusted relationships across CRES, finance, legal, and external suppliers, acting as a key interface to ensure smooth execution of sourcing activities and ongoing supplier performance.
- Ability to multitask & manage multiple projects – capability to manage a broad portfolio of sourcing initiatives simultaneously, prioritising effectively while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Analytical skills – the ability to interpret financial data, benchmark suppliers, and evaluate total cost of ownership (TCO) to support strategic sourcing decisions.
- Supplier Relationship Management – experience managing supplier performance, including KPIs, service reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring suppliers deliver against contractual commitments and drive innovation.
- Organisation and communication skills – strong planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage sourcing timelines, track deliverables, and communicate progress clearly to stakeholders.

This role can be based in Glasgow, Northampton, Knutsford or Manchester.
Purpose of the roleTo optimise and address Barclays 3rd party spend requirements, including the definition, development and implementation of approaches for relevant spend categories and requirements with close collaboration with the business and execution of strategic sourcing and buying channel development/optimisation.
Accountabilities- Profile spend in category area and develop understanding of business strategy, business requirements, cost levers and opportunities. Collaboration with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing needs, develop requests for proposal and ensure sourcing activities align to the banks needs and priorities.
- Planning and execution of sourcing events including RFP/ RFXs, negotiations to best meet the business requirements for value, speed, compliance, risk.
- Monitoring and guiding of controls and compliance requirements to be met through the category and sourcing cycle from request to contract, including regulatory engagement, controls, audits, data quality…
