Position Overview

Afognak Native Corporation seeks an On-Call Event Host / Administrative Assistant to support the Afognak Center Facility. The host will ensure high-level service for event guests, while the assistant will provide primary administrative support to the outreach program.

Essential Functions – Event Host
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the facility layout and key supply locations.
  • Verify all logistics before events, including building access, technology setup, room layout, tablecloth installation, supply stocking, and room orientation.
  • Assist renters with event setup, arranging furniture, setting up AV equipment, and ensuring requested materials are available.
  • Greet and welcome guests upon arrival.
  • Provide general support to renters concerning room technology use.
  • Offer onsite support during events, addressing renters’ needs or issues promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor the event space and restrooms to maintain cleanliness and order.
  • Conduct hourly walk-throughs to replenish toiletries, monitor trash and coffee add-ins, and perform property perimeter checks for safety and overall quality satisfaction.
  • Ensure renters and guests adhere to rental contract guidelines.
  • Address complaints efficiently during the event.
  • After the event, report all details to the Afognak Services Coordinator.
  • Perform post-event checklists to confirm all tasks are completed and restore the space to its original condition.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times, representing the corporation favorably.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions – Administrative Assistant
  • Greet guests at the main reception area in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls professionally and courteously; direct calls to appropriate departments or individuals.
  • Take and relay messages as needed or directed by staff.
  • Ensure coffee and water are available for guests throughout business hours.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area.
  • Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail in a timely manner.
  • Provide administrative support to all departments as requested, including shredding, typing correspondence, data entry, preparing and mailing packages, copying, and making phone calls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in all aspects of administrative support.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Flexible with being on-call and able to work minimal hours as required.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Adheres to the corporation’s confidentiality policy.
  • Professional and courteous communication with a wide variety of people in diverse situations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work effectively.
  • Strong computer, data entry, and customer service skills.
  • Proficient typist and data processing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and maintain a strong attention to detail.
  • Team player capable of working independently and self‑motivated.
  • Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
