Job Title: Youth Activities Assistant
Organization: Kodiak Island Housing Authority
Job SummaryAssist the Youth Activities Coordinator (YAC) with after‑school and summer youth programs at the Family Investment Center (FIC) of KIHA. Responsible for planning, supervising, and supporting activities for up to two dozen children, preparing meals, ensuring safety, and providing leadership.

- Plan and oversee youth activities, ensuring proper setup of equipment and supplies.
- Supervise youth during games, crafts, sports, literacy, and community events.
- Prepare and serve snacks and meals for the KIHA youth food assistance program, following health and safety guidelines.
- Assist in cleaning up activity and kitchen areas after programs.
- Promote and market activities to youth and families via announcements and schedules.
- Support youth in self‑sufficiency development (scholarship search, work search, application assistance).
- Encourage participation in healthy life‑skill programs and social interactions.
- Assist with social engagement events such as Christmas parties and picnics.
- Collect attendance records and manage required parent/guardian consents.
- Maintain confidentiality as per regulations and provide responsive customer service.
- Work professionally with internal and external partners.
- Promote a safe, drug‑free work environment.
- Fill in for the YAC when absent.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Youth Activities Coordinator or Service Coordinator.
- Previous experience working with youth.
- Experience with trauma‑informed care or understanding of youth barriers.
- Food Handlers Certificate (KIHA will assist).
- Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with good record;
School Bus Passenger Endorsement. - Minimum age 21.
- Ability to work in loud, chaotic environments.
- Strong communication skills with both youth and adults.
- Authority to interact with youth.
- Willingness to follow directions and accept constructive feedback.
- Background check and drug test clearance.
- Ability to participate in youth activities.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability for evening hours.

Salary Range: $38,443 – $55,808 DOE
