The Kodiak Island Borough School District is seeking college students who are energized and committed to education, the teaching and care of our diverse student body, and a commitment to the city of Kodiak. Teaching and leading at KIBSD is a meaningful opportunity to make a difference where it is needed most.

• Be assigned to a mentor with experience in teaching.
• Participate in district professional development in our schools and in specialized training for all student teachers through the Student Teaching program.
• Support classroom activities and student learning as part of the student teaching experience.
• Position is unpaid.

• Graduating in the next 12 months with a degree in education (bachelor or master).
• In good standing and eligible to student teach based on college/university requirements.
• Eligible students must be in their junior year to apply. This experience is for the final one or two semesters of the senior year to meet the student teaching requirement.
• Able to complete and pass the Alaska Department of Education licensure exams in the area of specialization.
