STARPLUS ENERGY LLC is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our Finance Team. The Tax Manager is responsible for comprehensively and accurately reporting all tax related matters and maintaining the associated internal controls while preparing tax returns and analyzing transactions with one analyst reporting to the position. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provisions in compliance with SEC, IFRS, and relevant tax regulations
- Collaborate with the Technical Accounting team and Office of Tax Affairs to research and prepare position papers on income tax accounting for management and external auditors
- Manage and review all indirect tax filings, including monthly sales and use tax returns and annual personal property tax returns
- Work with external firms to file annual federal and state income tax returns
- Oversee reporting and receipt of all company grants, incentives, and tax credits
- Analyze tax regulations to identify opportunities to optimize tax strategy
- Collaborate with shareholder tax teams to ensure alignment on tax positions
- Lead company transfer pricing initiatives and review transactions for compliance with arm’s length regulations
- Prepare tax footnotes and disclosures, ensuring alignment with external reporting requirements
- Manage all internal and external tax reporting, including monthly forecasts and annual budget submissions covering various tax accounts and cash flows
- Establish and maintain effective controls to minimize tax risk, developing policies and procedures in collaboration with Accounting Operations and identifying areas for process improvements and efficiencies
- Oversee assessments of uncertain tax positions and deferred tax asset valuations, coordinate reconciliations of tax-related accounts, and enhance staff knowledge through effective communication of results to management
- Perform other position related duties as assigned
- Minimum Age: 18 years old
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a multinational corporate or public accounting firm
- Experience working with ASC 740 involving both domestic and international operations
- Comprehensive knowledge and technical expertise involving all relevant guidance applicable to Federal, State and Local taxes
- Master of Science Degree in Business Administration, Master of Science degree in Accounting/Finance, Master of Science degree in Taxation, or a Juris Doctor degree
- CPA
- Experience with partnership taxation
Experience with tax credits - Strongly prefer experience in IAS 12/IFRS
- Experience with US Federal and State tax regulations
- Competency and/or proficiency in using standard tax and Accounting for income tax software applications
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Highly efficient, organized, reliable, and resourceful professional with practical experience and ability to understand process
- Strong analytical skills and ability to exercise judgment
- Ability to communicate/present issues in a clear and effective manner across all levels throughout the company and external auditors
- Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work around the potential exposure to dust and chemicals
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE as deemed essential for the job function
