General Summary & ScopeThe Beauty Advisor (BA) is responsible for providing an exceptional experience for all Ulta Beauty guests by engaging each guest to determine their individual needs, conducting cashier tasks, keeping fixtures stocked with merchandise, maintaining overall store cleanliness, and completing tasks as assigned. The BA supports leadership through service/retail sales, guest service, and operating procedures and compliance standards. This role requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and a capacity to learn and communicate product knowledge.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities Performance
- Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), omni‑channel sales, and retail shrink as set by Ulta Beauty.
- Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by greeting and engaging them, personalizing service, answering product questions, informing them about promotions and sales, and recommending complementary products and services.
- Handle customer service, sales, refunds, exchanges and assist with online orders courteously.
- Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
- Book appointments for and support in‑store services and events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience while meeting sales goals.
- Take initiative to stay informed about new and existing products and services during work time and remain knowledgeable of ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
- Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
- Contribute to an inclusive environment that supports teammates, peers, and guests.
- Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, with guests on the sales floor.
- Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.
- Regularly participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education, to enable continuous professional development and drive sales performance.
- Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s dress code.
- Drive sales by keeping assigned work area replenished, signed and faced, and ensuring testers are available.
- Maintain outstanding store standards and overall cleanliness of the sales floor, restrooms, cashwrap, backroom, and break area.
- Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, inventory procedures, and shipment processing/unloading using Ulta Beauty’s technology.
- Protect company assets by following loss prevention practices and providing exceptional guest service.
- Execute other operational tasks as directed.
- High school diploma preferred.
- 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Demonstrates a passion for guest service and competency for selling.
- Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system and Apple devices).
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ability to troubleshoot.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
