Role Overview :
- The Counsellor-cum-Faculty will play a dual role involving professional counselling for students and academic teaching in Psychology. The position requires strong clinical sensitivity, academic competence, and the ability to engage with students in a structured, ethical, and supportive manner within an institutional framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Counselling Responsibilities
Provide professional student counselling services addressing academic, emotional, behavioural, and psychosocial concerns
Conduct individual and group counselling sessions in line with ethical and institutional guidelines
Identify students requiring specialised intervention and coordinate referrals where necessary
Maintain confidentiality, documentation, and counselling records as per professional norms
Academic & Faculty Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate Psychology courses as assigned
Mentor and guide students in academic, professional, and personal development
Participate in curriculum delivery, assessment, and academic support activities
Contribute to departmental academic initiatives, workshops, and student-engagement programmes
Educational
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Psychology (mandatory)
MPhil in Psychology (mandatory)
For Faculties:
PhD/NET/SET in Psychology (desirable)
Valid counselling licence will be an added advantage
Experience Requirements:
- Prior experience in student counselling, clinical practice, or institutional counselling setups preferred
Teaching experience in higher education institutions will be an advantage
Exposure to academic mentoring, student support systems, or psychological assessment is desirable
Required Skills &
Competencies:
- Strong counselling and interpersonal skills
Sound knowledge of psychological theories, counselling techniques, and ethical practices
Ability to handle sensitive student issues with empathy, discretion, and professionalism
Effective teaching, communication, and mentoring abilities
Proficiency in written and spoken English
Ability to work collaboratively within academic and administrative teams
