Job Summary

The Finish Line Operator is responsible for carrying out finishing operations for Ductile Iron (DI) pipes and fittings to meet defined quality standards and shift production targets. The role involves operating finishing equipment, ensuring dimensional and surface quality, and maintaining safe and efficient production practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate finish line equipment for DI pipes and fittings, including grinding, fettling, cutting, chamfering, and inspection activities.
- Achieve assigned shift production targets while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections to identify surface defects, cracks, and casting irregularities.
- Ensure finished products comply with technical specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
- Handle materials safely using appropriate tools, fixtures, and lifting equipment.
- Coordinate with quality, maintenance, and production teams to resolve defects or process issues.
- Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in the finish line area.
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and foundry safety guidelines.
- Record production output, rejections, and downtime accurately in shift reports.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce rework.

Required Knowledge & Skills

- Strong knowledge of foundry finishing processes for DI pipes and fittings.
- Understanding of casting defects and finishing quality requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret production drawings and specifications.
- Experience working with grinding tools, finishing machines, and inspection instruments.
- Awareness of safety practices in foundry and heavy manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work in shifts and meet demanding production schedules.
