Warehouse Head
Position: Sr Manager/Manager
Industry: Apparel – Ecommerce & Retail
Location:
Bantala, Kolkata, Warehouse.
Role Objective
To lead and manage end-to-end warehouse operations including Raw Material (RM), Finished Goods (FG), Dispatch, Returns, Audit, and 3PLogistics, ensuring inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, cost control, compliance, and timely order fulfillment for ecommerce and retail channels.
Key Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Operations Management
• Oversee daily warehouse operations across RM, FG, dispatch, returns, and audits
• Ensure smooth inbound, storage, picking, packing, and outbound processes
• Optimize space utilization and warehouse layout for efficiency
2. Raw Material (RM) Management
• Supervise receipt, storage, and issuance of raw materials
• Ensure proper documentation, tagging, and FIFO compliance
• Monitor RM stock accuracy and reconciliation with ERP/records
• Control material losses, damages, and pilferage
3. Finished Goods (FG) Management
• Ensure accurate GRN, binning, and stock availability of finished goods
• Maintain SKU-wise, size-wise, and style-wise inventory accuracy
• Coordinate with production and merchandising teams for stock readiness
4. Dispatch & Order Fulfilment (Ecommerce & Retail)
• Ensure timely and accurate dispatch of ecommerce and retail orders
• Monitor order turnaround time (TAT), SLA adherence, and packing accuracy
• Reduce order cancellations, delays, and wrong shipments
• Coordinate with customer support on order-related escalations
5. Returns & Reverse Logistics
• Manage return inwarding, QC, grading, and restocking
• Ensure timely closure of return cases and inventory updates
• Minimize losses from damaged, rejected, or unsellable stock
6. Audit, Inventory Control & Compliance
• Conduct regular cycle counts and physical stock audits
• Ensure audit readiness and closure of discrepancies
• Implement SOPs, controls, and compliance processes
• Maintain statutory, safety, and internal audit standards
7. 3PL Logistics & Vendor Coordination
• Manage courier, transporter, and logistics partners
• Monitor freight costs, performance, and delivery timelines
• Resolve logistics issues, claims, and escalations
8. Team & Manpower Management
• Lead, train, and monitor warehouse staff and supervisors
• Manpower planning, shift allocation, and productivity tracking
• Ensure discipline, safety, and compliance on the warehouse floor
9. Systems, MIS & Reporting
• Ensure accurate ERP/WMS entries and real-time stock visibility
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports
• Track KPIs related to inventory accuracy, dispatch TAT, and returns
10. Process Improvement & Cost Control
• Identify operational gaps and drive continuous improvement
• Reduce wastage, damages, handling losses, and logistics costs
• Implement best practices for scalability and growth
OKRs – Warehouse Head (Annual / Half-Yearly)
Objective 1:
Ensure Efficient & Accurate Warehouse Operations
Key Results:
• Achieve ≥ 99% inventory accuracy across RM & FG
• Reduce order processing TAT by 15–20%
• Maintain dispatch accuracy of ≥ 99.5%
• Zero critical audit observations
Objective 2:
Strengthen RM, FG & Return Management
Key Results:
• RM variance maintained within ≤ 1.5%
• FG stock ageing reduced by 20%
• Return inwarding & closure completed within 48–72 hours
• Improve sellable recovery from returns by 10%
Objective 3:
Optimize Logistics & Cost Efficiency
Key Results:
• Reduce logistics cost per order by 5–8%
• SLA adherence with logistics partners at ≥ 95%
• Close logistics claims within 30 days
Objective 4:
Build a Strong, Compliant & Scalable Warehouse Team
Key Results:
• Achieve manpower productivity improvement of 10–15%
• Zero safety violations or compliance breaches
• 100% SOP adherence across warehouse functions
Objective 5:
Improve Systems, Reporting & Controls
Key Results:
• 100% real-time ERP/WMS updates
• Error-free MIS reports submitted within defined timelines
• Successful implementation of at least 2 process improvements
Required Skills & Competencies
• Strong warehouse & inventory management expertise (Apparel preferred)
• Knowledge of ecommerce operations & reverse logistics
• ERP / WMS / Excel proficiency
• People & vendor management skills
• Process orientation and problem-solving ability
• Cost control and compliance mindset
Experience & Qualification
• 8–12 years of experience in warehouse operations
• Prior exposure to apparel ecommerce / retail is mandatory
• Graduate (Supply Chain / Operations preferred)
