Technicians support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. They are the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and exceeding patient expectations through genuine care and effective communication.
- Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services; solve or elevate patient problems.
- Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories, etc.
- Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, and remain flexible for scheduling and business needs.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, and comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntarily staffing off‑site clinics), where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
- Complete additional licensure and training requirements in compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer to the pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report adverse reaction events per public health requirements.
- Review and collect patient information and track and document for each applicable patient.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
- Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
- If the state board does not mandate a minimum age, must be at least 16 years of age.
- If the state board does not mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program.
