Job Summary:

Assist the teacher in providing students with the fullest educational opportunity to learn and progress through use of appropriate teaching strategies and materials.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Educational Requirements
    • Two years of college or 32 credits or
    • Associates degree or
    • Meet or exceed cut score on Praxis Exam for the Para Pro Assessment
  • Language acquisition experience required. Bilingual preferred.
  • Positive public relations skills
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below
Major

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise students in both instructional and assessment activities, in and out of the classroom.
  • Provide instructional reinforcement of lesson plans, under direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Lead small group and individual discussions, skills practice and review of classwork.
  • Assist the teacher to accommodate implementation of special services (IEP, 504) when applicable.
  • Participate in staff meetings, staff projects and professional staff development.
  • Perform such school-related duties as assigned by the principal.
  • Support the creation of a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students within the limits of resources provided by the district.
  • Use instructional materials adopted by the district and employ methods that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Assist the teacher to maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Effectively participate in collaboration with team members.
  • Know and follow district policy and chain of command.
  • Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
