Head Librarian - English Speaking (Kuwait)

Our library in Al-Kuwait is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Head Librarian who is fluent in English to join our team. This is a full-time position that comes with accommodation and other benefits. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for books, knowledge, and community engagement.

• Oversee the daily operations of the library including staff supervision, budget management, and collection development.
• Develop and implement innovative programs and services to promote reading, literacy, and lifelong learning.
• Create a welcoming environment for library users by providing excellent customer service.
• Collaborate with local schools, universities, and community organizations to enhance library outreach and engagement.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in library services to ensure the library remains relevant and accessible.
• Maintain accurate records of circulation statistics, collection inventory, and other administrative tasks.

• A degree in Library Science or related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a librarian or in a related role.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
• Knowledge of current trends in library services including digital resources, programming, and outreach strategies.
• Proficiency in using integrated library systems (ILS) such as Koha or Sierra.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations while maintaining a positive attitude.

• Experience working in an international or multicultural environment.
• Knowledge of Arabic language is a plus but not required.

This position requires the candidate to have a valid biometric passport from their country of origin. Preference will be given to candidates from African countries.
