Job Description
The Electrical Metrology Engineer is the resident expert in his field and, in conjunction with the Kuwait Senior Engineer, provides engineering/consultant services to the Government of Kuwait (GOK). The engineer conducts research and studies new equipment to ensure that the latest developments in technique and equipment are included in metrology planning for future acquisition, assists in the development and implementation of a Metrology QA Program, and obtains and maintains laboratory QA accreditation.
Responsibilities- Assess requirements and develop new measurement techniques and approaches related to electrical, electronic, and microwave measurement areas.
- Develop, test, and evaluate new calibration methodology, analyze and evaluate equipment.
- Establish test and performance criteria, and prescribe calibration approaches, tests, equipment and servicing requirements necessary to ensure measurement traceability.
- Direct, conduct, and evaluate the development of calibration procedures for assigned equipment.
- Conduct liaison and coordinate with technical societies and engineering facilities of other countries to remain current with state‑of‑the‑art and new measurement techniques.
- Conduct detailed laboratory capability studies to achieve greater support efficiency.
- Develop laboratory operational, environmental, performance and safety criteria, and ensure implementation and maintenance.
- Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology, physics or a related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Twelve (12) years of experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electronic precision measurement equipment and calibration laboratory reference standards.
- Completion of a precision measurement and calibration school at an accredited institution or within a specialized calibration firm.
- Five (5) years of experience in technical oversight and training responsibilities of calibration and repair technicians, with at least three (3) years within the last five years.
- Experience in researching requirements and maintaining calibration laboratory facilities and related environmental control systems.
- Active US Government Secret Clearance (US citizenship required).
