Control System Engineer – Site Services
Location:

Consyst is looking for a Control System Engineer to join its Site Services team for projects across Kuwait, Oman and other GCC countries. The role covers on-site commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PLC, SCADA, and HMI-based control systems across Rockwell, Siemens, and Schneider Electric platforms, along with associated networking, virtualization, and field instrumentation. The engineer will work directly at customer sites, supporting FAT/SAT activities, AMC engagements, and preparing the site documentation that keeps projects and service contracts running smoothly.
Responsibilities:- Commission industrial automation systems on-site, including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and field instruments.
- Supervise on-site activities: panel installation, cable laying, terminations, and equipment setup.
- Perform I/O wiring verification and loop checks between PLCs and field devices.
- Download, configure, and validate PLC and HMI/SCADA programs as per project specifications.
- Execute interlock testing and logic validation as per functional design.
- Configure and test communication protocols such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profibus, Profinet, DNP3, IEC 61850, IEC 104, and MQTT.
- Configure and maintain virtualization environments (virtual machines), NAS storage, remote desktop access, and thin/thick client setups for control system infrastructure.
- Configure and troubleshoot network switches, including VLAN setup, port management, and network topologies such as DLR and PRP.
- Interpret electrical wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and loop drawings during commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Work with field instrumentation such as PT, TT, DPT, control valves, SOVs, and MOVs, and verify their integration with the control system.
- Coordinate with the Engineering team for resolution of site-raised Technical Queries (TQs).
- Front-end with customers on-site for technical discussions, progress updates, and issue resolution.
- Assist in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and lead Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) at site.
- Handle Control System AMC tasks and PM activities: system inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
- Prepare and maintain site documentation including pre-commissioning checklists, site survey reports, PM reports, commissioning plans and reports, SAT reports, and as-built markups.
- Follow permit-to-work (PTW) procedures and ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards during all commissioning and maintenance activities.
- Degree in Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or related field.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in commissioning and maintenance of industrial automation/control systems in process intensive industries (Oil and Gas experience preferred).
- Hands‑on experience with Rockwell Control Logix PLC systems, Siemens S7-1200/S7-1500, and/or Schneider Electric M580/M340 platforms.
- Proficiency with Aveva InTouch, Aveva Edge, System Platform, ArchestrA, WinCC, and Factory Talk SCADA.
- Ability to write and understand PLC logic in Ladder Logic (LD), Structured Text (ST), Function Block Diagram (FBD), and similar languages.
- Understanding of software coding/scripting used in SCADA and PLC systems.
- Working knowledge of virtualization (VMs), NAS, remote desktop, and thin/thick client environments.
- Experience with network switch configuration (VLAN, port management) and understanding of network topologies such as DLR and PRP.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols:
Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profibus, Profinet, IEC 61850, IEC 104, and MQTT. - Understanding of Serial (RS232/RS485), Ethernet, and Fiber Optic (FO) networks.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, P&IDs, loop drawings, and relevant control system documents.
- Understanding of field instrumentation: PT, TT, DPT, control valves, SOVs, and MOVs.
- Working knowledge in condition monitoring systems, like CBM and VMS.
- Working knowledge of hazardous area classification (ATEX/IECEx) and safety practices on O&G sites.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
