The role involves evaluating network performance, assessing system stability, reviewing technical reports, and providing practical engineering recommendations to support the reliable and efficient development of Kuwait's power transmission network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct generation connection and renewable energy planning studies, including identifying and evaluating suitable grid connection points.
  • Assess technical requirements for strengthening and connecting Kuwait's power system to the GCC Interconnection Grid.
  • Review and evaluate operational and planning reports issued by the GCC Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), providing detailed technical comments and recommendations.
  • Participate in GCCIA workshops and prepare technical reports, observations, and study findings.
  • Analyse power-system balance under sudden generation or load losses and assess their impact on network stability and operational security.
  • Evaluate renewable energy forecasting, integration constraints, generation curtailment, and network investment requirements.
  • Recommend transmission network enhancements and infrastructure investments to accommodate additional renewable energy generation.
  • Support seasonal power-system studies, substation connection assessments, and network expansion planning.
  • Translate complex system analysis results into practical, technically sound recommendations for utility network planning and operations.
  • Coordinate with relevant technical stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, quality, and reliability of engineering studies and reports.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems is desirable.
  • Strong experience in power-system planning, generation interconnection, and renewable energy integration studies.
  • Sound understanding of interconnected transmission networks, power-system stability, and operational security principles.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting complex utility engineering reports and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Knowledge of generation connection assessments, renewable energy integration constraints, and transmission network development.
  • Ability to prepare clear, structured technical reports and engineering recommendations.
  • Experience working with utility companies, power transmission networks, or regional interconnection authorities is preferred.
