The WAN Engineer is required to hold expert‑level certifications in multiple network and security disciplines (e.g., CCNP/CCIE & CISSP). WAN Engineers perform operation and maintenance (O&M) for the RCC‑SWA enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring stability and providing daily support of a geographically dispersed Wide Area Network. Responsibilities include design, troubleshooting, optimization, administration, change management, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate routers and switches throughout the Southwest Asia Area of Responsibility.
  • Configure OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MP‑BGP, DMVPN, MPLS, VRF, and QoS.
  • Identify problems and troubleshoot DMVPN phases 1‑3.
  • Evaluate network performance and adjust infrastructure hardware and software to optimize performance.
  • Perform regular system maintenance to support IAVA vulnerabilities and CCRI compliance.
  • Perform capacity planning for communications networks carrying data, voice, and video.
  • Monitor availability and reliability of the WAN using DX Net Ops Spectrum, Solar Winds Orion, and Cisco DNA Center.
  • Execute engineering best practices in network builds, integration, testing, and documentation while adhering to DISA STIGs.
  • Ensure all managed technologies comply with current DISA STIGs.
  • Assist with identifying and investigating malicious network activity.
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed network diagrams.
  • Create and track network issues/requests using the Service Now ticketing system.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required.
Program and Additional Information

Program: OMDAC‑SWACA. This position offers company‑paid housing and transportation, a completion bonus, and a tuition reimbursement program.

Applicants must satisfy all host‑country requirements to legally work in the host country, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a host nation visa and host nation driver’s license.

Qualifications
  • Requires an active Secret Clearance.
  • Education:

    One‑year related experience can be substituted for one year of education if the degree is required. Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferably in Computer Science, MIS, IS, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of practical experience working with network and systems technologies.
  • Must hold at least one baseline certification and one computing‑environment certification as per DoD 8570.01M.
  • Baseline certifications: CCNP (Security) (not double‑qualified), CASP+, SecurityX+, GCED, GCIH, CISA, CCSP, CISSP (or Associate).
  • Computing‑environment certifications: CC‑DN‑A, CCIE (any), CCNP (any).
  • Solid background with TCP/IP, routing, switching, VRF, MPLS, and layer2 protocols.
  • Experience with VPN technologies.
  • Experience creating and maintaining custom Python scripts.
  • Experience with Cisco DNA Center.
  • Strong customer‑service orientation.
  • Ability to verify system configurations per Higher Headquarters, Local, and DISA STIG policies.
  • Ability to manage asset documentation for accreditation and authorization.
  • Ability to assess networking requirements and provide solutions.
  • Ability to make accurate and independent decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to execute many complex tasks simultaneously across departmental boundaries.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable performing in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented work environment.
