Position: Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) Technician

Overview

The Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) Technician serves as focal point for all logistics and repair functions for all supplied ALSE first aid kits and Night Vision Devices (NVD).

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and approve completed maintenance actions.
  • Solve repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications.
  • Inspect, instruct, service, and certify individual and crew equipment.
  • Order, receive, and inventory kits and components.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies. Ensure proper fit of crew member clothing.
  • Maintain ALSE and NVD for DoS and DI personnel. Maintain computerized inventories and records to ensure timely and accurate compliance with inspection intervals.
  • Provide instruction to contractor and host nation personnel regarding the proper use and care of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year verifiable experience as an ALSE technician.
  • Certificate of training as a school-trained ALSE Technician.
  • Valid US Passport (minimum 2.5 years validity) required for deployment to Germany.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance (NAC-I, T1 Public Trust). US citizenship is required to obtain a T1/CAC NACI Clearance.
  • Must meet and be able to pass CENTCOM Medical requirements prior to deployment.
  • Ability to obtain a favorable background check for Kuwait PCC and obtain a Kuwait Visa.
Knowledge & Skills
  • CMF 92 Supply & Services MOS series or other military/commercial equivalent (92R MOS preferred).
  • Working knowledge of aircrew and aircraft LSE requirements for extreme environmental and high-risk areas of operation.
  • Ability to ascertain LSE requirements for a multi-type aircraft environment.
  • Knowledge of basic theory of flight and aircraft systems nomenclature.
  • Knowledge of flight line/ramp safety procedures and aircraft firefighting procedures.
  • Knowledge of aviation maintenance data systems and associated documentation/forms.
  • Knowledge of life support equipment maintenance tools and tool control procedures.
  • Knowledge of instruction principles, seat kit survival components, and aircrew life raft and life preserver inspections/maintenance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) through DoS Background Investigation as a condition of continued employment.
  • Proficient in obtaining and maintaining a U.S. Passport prior to assignment (renewal and additional pages as needed).
Physical Requirements / Working Environment
  • Walk and stand on level or inclined surfaces for up to six hours per day and sit for up to two hours per day.
  • Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands; crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects; use finger dexterity; bend elbow/knee; reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds; lift up to 50 pounds to four feet and up to 35 pounds to seven feet.
  • Communicate by voice and detect sounds; distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • Operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
  • Minimum 20/100 vision, correctable to 20/20; night vision devices must be focusable at distances of at least 20 feet.
  • Travel to austere or remote locations; respond to operational circumstances in extreme weather and rudimentary infrastructure as required.
  • Exposure to extreme noise, fumes or airborne particles, electrical hazards, moving parts, vehicles, and aircraft; surface obstructions such as ladders and stairs; exposure to chemicals, mists, gases, vapors, ultraviolet and infrared radiation.
Travel & Security

Must be able to travel to and between remote locations and be available for deployment as required. Must be able to obtain and maintain required clearances and visas as specified for overseas assignments.
