Title: HVAC Technician
Reports To: Immediate Supervisor (Maintenance Supervisor)
Salary: Custodial Salary Schedule
Primary Function: Perform minor & major repairs and preventative maintenance related to HVAC.
Duties included but are not limited to the repair and/or replacement of Boilers, Chillers, RTUS, AHUs, MAUs, split pack units, compressors, controls, ductwork, dampers, charging units, and associated plumbing and electrical labor to complete tasks.
- Apprenticeship preparation required or have worked in their demonstrated skill with a reputable firm.
- Must hold a journeyman certificate. The candidate will be considered if enrolled in an apprenticeship to obtain certification.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the tasks in their specific craft
- Physical ability to perform above duties.
- Three years' experience is preferred.
- Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance related to their demonstrated skill set.
- Participate in maintenance operations other than their demonstrated skill set when needed.
- Handle maintenance requests assigned by the supervisor or their designee and paperwork involved in the completion of assignments such as inspection reports, long‑range maintenance proposals, estimates, and receipts.
- Responsible for layout and co‑leadership with the Supervisor of Facilities and Facilities Manager on complex maintenance projects requiring subordinate maintenance personnel
- Shows leadership ability as well as capability to instruct others in demonstrated craft skill.
- Operates equipment as required.
- Other additional duties as assigned but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, electrical, grounds maintenance, and duties related to snow removal.
- Maintains the preventive maintenance system keeping current data, repair records, work orders, and preventive maintenance records.
- Meets with immediate supervisor regularly to discuss projects, preventive maintenance, work orders, and repairs needed.
- Works with Maintenance Supervisor, Supervisor of Facilities, Facilities Manager, & District Admin to plan, coordinate, and schedule renovations and/or maintenance projects.
- Should be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Maintains records of requisitions and assignments completed, and inventory of all maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Operates motor vehicles with a valid class "D" license.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate directives.
- Responds to emergency calls any time.
- Works with all school personnel and administrators to maintain positive school relationships.
- Demonstrates regularity in attendance and promptness in reporting.
- Demonstrates ability to read operating instructions, blueprints, schematics, and directives.
- Performs maintenance responsibilities that require specialized equipment, training, and/or licensing.
