Versatile, self‑starting individual who works well on their own, with very little supervision, to develop or improve a behavior‑based Environmental, Safety and Health program. Candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of Federal, Local, and Army environmental, safety, and occupational health methods, practices, principles, and procedures to perform effectively; promotes a wide variety of training activities designed to achieve awareness of environmental, safety, and health hazards and corresponding preventive procedures.
On a recurring basis, inspect facilities and organizations to cite legal violations, recommend corrective actions, and insure that hazardous conditions are eliminated. Works with managers, supervisors, leaders, and officials to eliminate or control hazardous operations or conditions. Program: OMDAC‑SWACA.
This position offers company‑paid housing and transportation, a completion bonus, and tuition reimbursement program.
You must satisfy all host‑country requirements to legally work in the host country, including obtaining and maintaining a host nation visa and driver’s license, to be qualified for this position.
Responsibilities- Ensure an effective contract‑wide Safety and Health inspection, compliance, and behavioral monitoring program that conforms to applicable legal requirements and industry standards.
- Use environmental, safety, and health principles to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control potential physical, chemical, and biological hazards present in the work environment.
- Present instruction, measure employees’ knowledge base, track employees who have received specific training topics, and keep employees current in all safety and environmental training.
- Communicate professionally, in writing and orally, with other professionals as needed (posters, flyers, newsletters, staff meetings, performance appraisals, job requirements, metrics, project plans, and quality standard procedures).
- Communicate with senior management, area supervisors, and regulators, assist with the preparation of required corporate reports, and update ESH databases to help implement a complete ESH program.
- Perform risk analysis, root‑cause analysis, and develop programs that exceed basic regulatory compliance, identify needed resources such as personal protective equipment, budget for resources, and identify required training for employees in various operations.
- Inspect work areas for potential environmental, safety, and health non‑compliance issues and report findings to workplace leaders while recommending abatement actions for identified deficiencies; monitor corrective action and track tasks to completion.
- Observe compliance during workplace inspections; document behavior traits during audits.
- Develop and/or review a variety of training lesson plans; present environmental, safety, and health training and orientation training.
- Set a good example to the workforce by following all environmental, safety, and health regulations, policies, procedures, and practices; keep work area/equipment clean and orderly.
- Perform other duties and assignments as required.
- Security Clearance:
Requires an active Secret Clearance. - Education / Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental, safety, health or related discipline preferred, or associate’s degree with two years’ experience; one year of related academic study above high school level may be substituted for one year of experience, up to a maximum of a 4‑year bachelor’s degree for three years of general experience. - Experience:
At least four years’ experience as an environmental, safety, and health specialist with two years in a leadership position; experience in a behavior‑based safety and environmental compliance program; experience with a customer‑service oriented company. - Other Requirements:
Working knowledge of management systems such as OHSAS 18001 or ISO 14001; familiarity with DOD, Army, EPA, and Federal regulations; military background and training is beneficial.
