Position Overview
The Cement Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing all laboratory activities related to the testing, qualification, and quality control of cement slurries and associated materials used in oilfield cementing operations. The position ensures that all laboratory testing is conducted safely, accurately, and in compliance with API standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements.
The Cement Laboratory Supervisor provides technical leadership for the development, evaluation, and optimization of cement systems used in drilling, completion, remedial, and abandonment operations. This includes supervising laboratory personnel, reviewing test programs, validating slurry designs, interpreting test results, and ensuring that cement systems meet operational and well integrity requirements before field implementation.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct laboratory testing to support cementing and stimulation operations, including thickening time (TT), fluid loss, rheology, and water analysis testing.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) testing for cementing additives and materials to ensure compliance with company and client specifications.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate testing procedures and reliable data collection.
- Support the development, evaluation, and validation of cementing systems and treatment designs through laboratory analysis.
- Maintain laboratory databases, test records, and technical documentation to ensure data integrity and traceability.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, including proper handling and disposal of laboratory waste.
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory processes, service quality, and operational efficiency.
- Perform risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and implement appropriate mitigation measures to promote a strong safety culture.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, quality standards, operational procedures, and applicable industry regulations.
- Attend and complete all required Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) training programs and actively contribute to HSE objectives.
- Exercise Stop Work Authority whenever unsafe conditions or practices are identified.
- Participate in job risk analyses and continuous improvement programs that support operational excellence and client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel, field operations teams, and technical specialists to deliver high‑quality support to cementing and stimulation projects.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to support business and operational requirements.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in Oilfield Cementing Laboratories.
- Minimum 2–5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience supporting onshore and offshore cementing operations.
- Experience with HTHP cement testing and slurry qualification.
- Experience working with major operators such as Saudi Aramco, KOC, BAPCO, ADNOC, PDO, or international oil companies is preferred.
