Overview
Repair and Tool Technician position at The Home Depot – responsible for the evaluation and repair of small engines, outdoor power equipment and handheld electrical devices. This role makes equipment recommendations and ensures units are maintained. Technicians work in store Tool Rental Centers and in repair centers. In-store, technicians service customers in Tool Rental, which includes writing customer contracts and invoices for equipment rental and tool repairs, verifying tools operate correctly, and demonstrating proper use as needed.
They support day-to-day operation and maintenance of equipment in the Tool Rental department. In non-store locations, technicians ensure units are repaired, tested for quality, and cleaned prior to returning to the originating store. Technicians must have thorough knowledge of all tools and effectively manage tool inventory by maintaining and repairing tools as necessary.
- Evaluate and repair small engines, outdoor power equipment, and handheld electrical devices.
- Recommend equipment options and ensure proper maintenance of units.
- Provide customer service in Tool Rental, including processing contracts and invoices for rentals and repairs.
- Operate and maintain equipment in the Tool Rental department on a day-to-day basis.
- In non-store locations, ensure repairs are complete, cleaned, and tested for quality before returning to the store of origin.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all tools and manage tool inventory effectively.
- Strong knowledge of tools with ability to diagnose and repair small engines, outdoor power equipment, and handheld electrical devices.
- Ability to manage tool inventory and maintain equipment in Tool Rental Centers.
- Experience with customer contracts and invoicing related to rentals and repairs (store-based).
- Attention to quality: test repaired units to ensure proper operation before return.
