the college of arts, social sciences, and humanities ( cassh ) includes departments and programs in the humanities, social sciences and interdisciplinary studies, as well departments in the school of visual and performing arts ( vpa ). Cassh / vpa continues the established liberal studies tradition of providing curricula leading to the bachelor of arts or the bachelor of science degree.

the department of student affairs administration ( saa ) in higher education has offered master’s degrees since 1968, with online and blended options since 2007. We opened our doctoral program in student affairs administration & leadership ( saal ) in 2017. Roughly 40-50% of our courses are taught by ranked (tenured or tenure-track faculty) and the rest are taught by “ad hoc” clinical faculty (those we value for their significant professional experience and leadership).

under general supervision of department chair and relevant graduate program directors, a person in this position is responsible for teaching graduate courses. In addition to preparing for and holding classes [face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online], teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. In addition, workload may involve advising students and/or providing other service to the department.
Other duties may be assigned by the graduate program director, department chair, or dean of the college.
- prepare and deliver curriculum to graduate students in blended and online delivery methods.
- prepare course materials such as syllabi, assignments, and all learning management system (lms) content, ensuring they comply with department, college, and university guidelines including accessibility and copyright.
- evaluate and grade students’ assignments and engagement/participation utilizing the department’s grading criteria, within the canvas course management system.
- maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students.
- compile, administer, and grade assignments and other assessment measures of student learning outcomes.
- initiate, facilitate, and moderate discussions.
- maintain student records, grades, and other required records, and deliver them to the registrar as directed by uwl policy.
- participate in peer evaluation of teaching,
- become familiar with, and ideally contribute to, department instructors handbook and canvas site, and
- consult with colleagues teaching the same cohort to coordinate due dates.
