The Electrical Engineer works closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process from raw material through finished product and supports daily production activities. This managerial position includes daily supervision of plant electricians and electronic technicians, as well as the management of plant construction, modifications, appropriations, and equipment installation.
Division OverviewCrown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees, teas, and new energy drinks. LocationCrown Beverage Packaging is located in La Crosse, WI, with 117 employees. The plant is surrounded by scenic bluffs and lies alongside the mighty Mississippi River. It is minutes from the historic downtown, major highways such as I‑94, and a 7‑minute drive from the La Crosse Airport.
Position OverviewThe Electrical Engineer works closely with all aspects of the manufacturing process from raw material to finished product and supports daily production activities. This is a managerial position that includes daily supervision of plant electricians and electronic technicians as well as the management of plant construction, modifications, appropriations, and equipment installation.
Duties and Responsibilities- Apply electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery, electrical control equipment, and circuitry in an industrial plant setting.
- Oversee assembly and testing of experimental motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings, and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles.
- Diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and perform preventative and corrective action.
- Develop diagrams, drawings and specifications for modifications or expansions and direct personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties.
- Plan, direct, and record periodic testing; recommend or initiate modification or replacement of equipment as needed.
- Direct, coordinate, develop, train, coach and assess employees.
- Support and encourage employees to work safely, efficiently, and effectively.
- Perform other job‑related duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience plus an Associate’s degree.
- Five to seven years of experience in a high‑speed manufacturing environment.
- At least three years of proven supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of motor controls, VFD’s, DC drives, Eddy Current Systems and/or Modicon system design.
- Installation, set‑up and programming of PLC’s (Allen‑Bradley).
- Ability to design, modify and plot using AutoCAD software.
- Process control systems – set‑up and program applications (Honeywell).
- Instrumentation and calibration knowledge.
- Facility power distribution to include voltage up to 4160 V, three‑phase.
