Overview
The Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafter is a detail-oriented and creative professional responsible for producing precise technical drawings and design documents used in the manufacturing of custom wood components. This role plays a key part in translating design concepts and customer specifications into accurate, production-ready CAD drawings and prints. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical skill, consistent accuracy, and a commitment to continuous improvement while maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Key Responsibilities- Create and revise detailed CAD drawings for custom wood products based on design specifications, standards, and customer requirements, ensuring precision and manufacturability.
- Review job orders and production requirements to ensure drawings are complete, accurate, and manufacturable, applying the Measure Twice for Accuracy principle.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering, Production, and Customer Support Team to clarify design intent, resolve technical discrepancies, and maintain a Be Positive and collaborative working environment.
- Maintain consistency in drafting standards, layer structures, and file organization to ensure efficiency and repeatability.
- Update and maintain engineering documentation, including drawing revisions, material specifications, and design change records.
- Support product development and process improvement projects through design modifications and documentation updates, bringing Be Value Added ideas to improve efficiency and reduce rework.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions from design to production.
- Contribute ideas for workflow enhancements, tool development, or automation opportunities that improve drafting efficiency and accuracy, reflecting R.a.W principles of hard work, continuous improvement, and leadership mindset.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards to promote a safe and productive work environment.
- Measure Twice for Accuracy: Apply attention to detail and precision in planning to minimize errors and disruptions.

- Associate degree or technical certification in Computer-Aided Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
. - Proficiency in AutoCAD or comparable 2D CAD software.
- Prior experience in woodworking, cabinetry, or manufacturing design preferred.
- Strong understanding of design-to-production workflows and manufacturability principles.
- Excellent spatial thinking, visualization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on positive teamwork.
