Salary range: $69,160 – $83,116 per year.
OverviewThe City of La Crosse Police & Fire Commission seeks Police Officers to join a diverse workforce that reflects the community. The role includes enforcing laws, maintaining public peace, protecting life and property, and working with the community.
Responsibilities- Work as a team member to enforce laws and maintain public peace.
- Protect life and property.
- Work with the community to address community problems.
- Patrol on a 12‑hour schedule (2/2‑3/2‑2/3 cycle), totaling 2080 hours per year with every other weekend off.
- Minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited university (transcripts required).
- Valid unrestricted driver’s license.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Medical/vision standards met; background check, physical exam, drug screen, and psychological exam required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, maturity in independent decision making, and respect for the community.
- Not required to be certified; non‑certified candidates may attend the 720 Academy.
- Health insurance, life insurance, accident insurance, income‑continuation insurance.
- Bachelor's degree incentive pay, paid holidays, paid vacations.
- Section 125 flexible spending plan, deferred compensation plan, Roth IRA.
- Employee‑sponsored dental and vision insurance, Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension plan.
