SUMMER LABORER, VEGETATION MANAGEMENT

Hourly Wage: $21.00 | Anticipated

Start Date:

May 2026

Please note, this position requires considerable travel from Monday to Thursday with the Traveling Crew across La Crosse, Lancaster, and Elk Mound.

We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious individual to assist with the application of herbicides and brush clearing for our vegetation control program. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of the transmission corridor. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

The Impact You'll Make In This Role ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Safely apply herbicides as part of the vegetation control program
  • Assist with brush clearing to ensure vegetation clearances are met
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Travel extensively (Monday-Thursday) to various job sites
Your Experience and Expertise MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Enrollment in a college, university, or technical college for the upcoming fall semester
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Basic computer skills for managing timesheets and expense accounts

Licenses and

Certifications:

Possess valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl, twist, bend, reach, and stretch for extended periods
  • Capability to lift, carry, and pull brush and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Experience manipulating ropes, winch cables, and spray cans
  • Ability to work as part of a team to handle hoses up to 1,000 feet long
  • Comfortable negotiating uneven terrain
Environmental Demands

Will willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and noise. Ability to work around mechanical, electrical, fume/odor, dust, chemical, and natural hazards. Comfortable working on uneven terrain.

Other Job Characteristics

Significant travel is required, with all travel expenses (room and meals) reimbursed.
