Overview
Wis Corps – Crew Member – Multiple Opportunities is a role within Ameri Corps. The Crew Program is a division of Wis Corps that sends young adults to various work sites to complete high priority conservation projects while traveling and living with crewmates. Under the supervision of an experienced leader, crews of 4 to 6 Corps Members complete high-quality work while gaining technical skills and knowledge of Wisconsin’s natural resources.
Members will serve across the state of Wisconsin and may be involved in trail building, carpentry, land management activities, plant propagation, plant installation, seed collections, and site preparation. Site preparation may include herbicide applications and use of equipment such as pruners, backpack sprayers, and brush cutters. This position requires strenuous repetitive manual labor and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Trail building, construction, or maintenance of trails
- Carpentry-related tasks and general maintenance of work sites
- Land management activities including invasive species removal and erosion control
- Plant propagation and plant installation; seed collection
- Site preparation using equipment such as pruners, backpack sprayers, and brush cutters
- Operate power tools (e.g., drills, brush saws) as part of project work
- Live and work with other members during off-hours to build teamwork, communication, and responsibility
- Camping may be required during the program duration
