How You Make a DifferenceThe Psychiatrist provides a comprehensive range of psychiatric services to incarcerated patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders. Additionally, the Psychiatrist offers clinical consultation to mental health and health‑care staff on identified cases, ensuring high‑quality mental health care for inmates and upholding the standards of care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric services to inmate patients, including evaluations, treatment, and monitoring of psychotropic medications in compliance with professional and company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure uniformity of mental health services and documentation of psychiatric services.
- Provide supervision and oversight to psychiatric nurses (if applicable) and offer consultation/training services to mental health and medical staff.
- Participate in involuntary medication of high‑risk inmates and provide documentation of psychiatric services contacts as requested.
- Exercise independent medical judgment in diagnosis and treatment of patients while adhering to approved medication formulary and notifying appropriate staff of clinical or administrative concerns.
- Candidate must be licensed in the state of Kentucky.
- On‑call is required.
- Doctorate in psychiatry.
- Training and experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.
- Physician licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment.
- Board‑certified or board‑eligible in psychiatry.
- CPR Certified.
