PRODUCE​/CLERK

We are looking for a Produce Clerk to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, maintain a safe and clean environment, and support the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals.

• Role model the 3A's of Friendly: acknowledge, assist, and appreciate our customers.
• Promote corporate brands to customers.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Provide a welcoming environment by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Maintain knowledge of products and make product suggestions.
• Assist with the preparation of produce platters/trays and inform customers of produce specials.
• Recommend items to customers to meet their needs.
• Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise.
• Inspect product quality and freshness and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with current promotions.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and report equipment issues.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks or illegal activity.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
• Provide support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
• Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Current food handlers permit (once employed).

• Comparable retail experience.
• Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
