Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (Travel) – Sharp Health Care

Key Job Responsibilities

• Provide advanced, safe, and therapeutic nursing care to critically ill neurological patients in the Neuro ICU
• Perform comprehensive neurological and systemic assessments; identify subtle changes in patient condition
• Implement and evaluate individualized plans of care using the nursing process for high-acuity patients
• Manage complex neurological conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, intracranial hemorrhage, post-op neuro cases, and altered mental status
• Collaborate with intensivists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and interdisciplinary teams in high-risk clinical situations
• Serve as patient and family advocate while maintaining strict compliance with ICU standards and protocols
• Coordinate care, delegate appropriately, and ensure continuity through accurate, timely documentation

Core Skills & Competencies

• Neuro assessments (NIHSS), frequent neuro checks, and early recognition of deterioration
• ICU-level hemodynamic monitoring and critical care interventions
• Management of ventilated patients, drips, and invasive lines as applicable
• Development, implementation, and reassessment of individualized plans of care (IPOC/IPER)
• Patient and family education adapted to critical illness and neurological conditions
• Clear communication with interdisciplinary teams to support patient safety and outcomes

Licensure & Certifications

• Active California RN License
• BLS/CPR
• ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Education & Experience

• BSN or ADN required
• Minimum 3 years recent RN experience
• Minimum 2 years recent Neuro ICU or ICU experience
