Position Summary

The Mediation Center Program Assistant assists the Director in coordination of the Mediation Program, which provides mediation services to the citizens of Charles County and various referral partners. The program offers mediation to include parenting plans, divorce plans, facilitation, conflict workshops, community conferencing, and dialogue circles services. Duties related to the various programs include responding to telephone inquiries and e-mails, performing intakes, and scheduling mediations for citizens who wish to utilize mediation services.

The Program Assistant coordinates volunteers who perform mediation services. Additionally, the Program Assistant is responsible for triaging community conference referrals to confirm participants’ interest in services and facilitating the handoff to the appropriate facilitators.

The hiring salary for this position will be from the min to mid-point of the salary range advertised. This position is open until filled.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities Mediation Intake (25%)
  • Conduct phone intakes from self-referrals and walk-ins and make pro‑active mediation intake calls to District Court ADR and Outreach referrals.
Mediation Scheduling (25%)
  • Coordinate setting up mediations to include volunteer management, site location, and participant notifications.
Case Management (25%)
  • Follow mediation cases from initial intake calls to conclusion to include entering data into Insightly, coordination of location, times, dates, stats and closing cases.
Pre‑prep Call Community Conference (15%)
  • Make triage calls for Community Conferences resulting from referrals from school administrators to confirm the parents want to move forward with the conference.
Data Collection & Entry (5%)
  • Collect data as needed from the center services for MACRO, CMM and Outreach partners. Input data into Insightly and any other reports as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of grant reports pertinent to the program.
Outreach (5%)
  • Monitor and coordinate site, partnership, and outreach follow‑up for continued mediation referrals.

Minimum Education and Training

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Completion of 45 Hour Basic Mediation Training by Community Mediation Maryland (CMM).
  • Experience with Help Desk or Customer service calls.
