Math and Engineering Faculty work closely with students in and out of the classroom to help them maximize their success. Faculty serve as advisors to student clubs such as the AMATYC Student Mathematics League, Student Research League, Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and Robotics clubs. Our faculty have presented at AMATYC, MMATYC, NCTM, and MCTM conferences. They are engaged in ongoing grant-funded projects, partnering with the Office of Naval Research, the National Science Foundation, NAVAIR, and other community partners.
Our faculty teach a range of courses using both Open Educational Resources and Direct Digital Access software, employing synchronous and asynchronous modes of instruction. They focus on student engagement and success through critical thinking, analytical, and hands-on approaches. Knowledge of learning management systems and innovative technology-based instructional delivery is essential. We seek an innovative educator to join our math faculty.

Math faculty teach developmental, 100, and 200 level undergraduate classes including developmental mathematics, Quantitative Reasoning, Statistics, College Algebra, Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. The faculty member will teach 30 credit hours annually, with flexibility for varying course offerings, including day, evening, and weekend classes at any college location. Summer teaching may be available.
Additional responsibilities include teaching dual enrollment classes through the Early College program, coordinating, planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating instruction to promote student success. Activities include holding office hours, serving on committees, and engaging in professional development through participation in professional organizations and activities.
DUTIES AND STANDARDS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Teach 30 credits per year in various formats and times
- Design assignments connecting to students’ programs and the discipline
- Engage students with active and collaborative approaches
- Meet with students outside class to support their success
- Incorporate culturally relevant pedagogies
- Communicate effectively in oral and written forms
- Deliver instruction to diverse student populations
- Use engagement strategies to support completion and success
- Provide constructive feedback
- Develop or utilize Open Educational Resources
- Participate in ongoing professional development and activities
- Master computer operation skills
- Minimum of a master's degree in mathematics or a related field with 18 graduate credits in mathematics
- Preferred experience includes at least one year of full-time or two years of adjunct post-secondary teaching, especially at the community college level
- Proficiency in word processing, internet applications, graphing calculators, educational software, and learning management systems like D2L
- Ability to teach in face-to-face, web, hybrid, and hyflex modalities
