Purpose and Scope: Functions as part of the dialysis health care team, providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting the Quality Enhancement Program.

• Assist health care team with patient education regarding adequacy measures and disease processes.
• Welcome patients and assess wellbeing since last treatment.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated.
• Obtain pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weight, and conduct vascular access evaluation.
• Initiate dialysis treatment per prescribed orders, monitor intradialytic problems, and provide interventions as directed.
• Monitor patient response, document vital signs and treatment parameters on the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet, and report significant changes to the registered nurse or supervisor.
• Perform safety checks, document interventions, and manage lab specimens.
• Assist training of direct patient care staff on appropriate programs.
• Maintain environmental integrity, clean and disinfect equipment, and prepare treatment areas.
• Complete and document participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
• Enter all treatment data accurately into the clinical application and review treatment sheets for completeness.
• Support infection control audits and education of patients and families.
• Follow transitional care unit protocols for newly admitted patients, including education, coordination, and supply ordering.
• Adhere to physical demands: lifting, moving patients, and operating equipment within safety guidelines.

• High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Must meet CMS-approved state/national certification requirements.

• Previous patient care experience in a hospital or related facility preferred.
• Completion of dialysis training program and CPR certification mandatory.

• Employees must take the Ishihara Color Blindness test; failure does not preclude employment.
• Requires travel between facilities and occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.

Hourly Rate: $17.00 – $27.00. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, parental leave, and potential performance-based bonuses.
