Type of Law:
Prosecution of State crimes occurring within the geographical jurisdiction of Charles County, Maryland.
Job Description:
ASAs will appear in the District and Circuit Court for Charles County, Maryland and represent the State in criminal cases. Each attorney is responsible for litigating his/her assigned cases, to include advising police entities on investigations, reviewing and approving search and seizure warrants, providing discovery, summonsing and interviewing witnesses, obtaining physical and digital evidence for use at trial, preparing pleadings, litigating pre-trial motions, litigating jury/bench trials, litigating sentencing hearings, litigating hearings on post-conviction and reconsideration of sentence motions, and other duties as assigned.
- Advise police entities on investigations
- Review and approve search and seizure warrants
- Provide discovery, summons and interview witnesses
- Obtain physical and digital evidence for use at trial
- Prepare pleadings
- Litigate pre-trial motions
- Litigate jury or bench trials
- Litigate sentencing hearings
- Litigate hearings on post-conviction and reconsideration of sentence motions
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Experience:
5-10 years of prosecutorial experience - Must be admitted to the Maryland Bar
Salary:
Starting at $95,000. Starting salary dependent upon prior prosecutorial experience. Medical, dental and pension benefits included.
