• Exemplifies strong customer service in every aspect of the job.
• Directs and controls the operation of the Grocery Department, including supervising and training personnel to achieve departmental and store sales and profit objectives.
• Provides feedback and recommendations on operational issues and personnel decisions to Store Director and Division management.
• Champions corporate and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals.
• Responsible for total store operations and directing associates throughout the store.
• Manages day‑to‑day operations of the Grocery Department, conducts daily inspections, initiates corrective measures.
• Maintains stock conditions, ensures compliance with code date standards, cleanliness, sanitation, safety standards, and security requirements.
• Controls pricing by following division pricing guidelines and ensuring compliance with coupon and discount policies.
• Implements Company and Division operating and merchandising policies and practices.
• Orders groceries and maintains inventory levels according to Division directives.
• Supervises receiving, storing, stocking, pricing, and merchandising of all Grocery products.
• Prepares and displays appropriate product signage.
• Schedules Grocery Department associates and ensures adequate coverage.
• Monitors associate performance, handles hiring, promotion, disciplinary action, morale, complaints, and reports to Store Director.
• Understands the store and Grocery Department Profit and Loss statement and plans department promotions.
• Answers and responds to incoming telephone calls appropriately.
• Maintains confidentiality concerning associates, store sales, and Company information.
• Performs all job duties with honesty and integrity and in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
• Attends required training and sales meetings.

• Extensive retail background with prior management experience related to retail operations.
• Thorough understanding of overall Company practices, policies, and procedures.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; good leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage and develop people.
• Ability to maintain composure in dealing with customers, vendors and co‑workers.
• Knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices policies; knowledge and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Friendly, courteous, takes initiative, remains composed under interruptions and customer complaints.
• Analytical ability to handle administrative details: planning, reporting, scheduling, supervising, hiring, disciplinary actions.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics, weights and measures; must have knowledge of product variety, product location and perishability.
• Ability to work at different times of the day, weekends, holidays with little or no supervision.
• Must possess thorough knowledge of check stand scanning and loss prevention procedures.
• Must be able to operate and train others in front end cash registers and/or scanning equipment.
• Must be able to operate ordering equipment.
• Knowledge and ability to implement emergency procedures in the event of a disaster or equipment or computer software malfunctions.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; frequently lifts, stacks and maneuvers objects up to 80 lbs; may climb ladders.
• Ability to properly stack, operate hand trucks, six‑wheel carts and pallet jacks; manual dexterity, good eye‑hand coordination.
• May utilize cleaning supplies and chemicals and safety cutters.
• Complies with all Company policies including attendance, grooming standards and dress codes.

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Dependent on length of service, hours worked and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include healthcare, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility).
