Tax Office Assistant/Bookkeeper
We are looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Tax Office Assistant/Bookkeeper to join our team, providing essential support in managing financial records and assisting with tax-related duties in a fast‑paced environment. The role requires strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of basic bookkeeping principles, and the ability to multitask in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our tax office.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in preparing and maintaining bookkeeping records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries in Xero and Quick Books.
- Support the preparation and filing of tax documents and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and deadlines.
- Reconcile bank statements and record daily financial transactions to ensure financial data accuracy.
- Support payroll processing.
- Collaborate with the team to manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
- Provide administrative support to the tax office, including data entry, document filing, and handling client inquiries.
- Maintain and update client records and files with the utmost confidentiality and accuracy.
- Support email and secure portal inquiries.
- Greet clients, schedule appointments, and scan documents.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, ideally within a tax office or financial environment.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Xero).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong ability to maintain accuracy in financial data and reporting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Familiarity with tax-related procedures and regulations is a plus.
