Our state‑of‑the‑art investment casting facility in La Porte, Indiana is seeking a Product Engineer to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan, our facility supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the aerospace industry.
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for the dimensional integrity of an assigned portfolio of investment cast parts. Responsibilities include the design and acquisition of tooling, fixtures, gauges, and dimensional inspection plans necessary to produce parts that consistently meet or exceed our customers’ requirements and expectations. The role also identifies and leads continuous improvement activities to reduce cost, improve scrap and rework yields, and increase overall manufacturing process efficiency.
EssentialFunctions
- Develop and improve processes for critical and complex aerospace components.
- Conceive, evaluate, and implement problem‑solving activities, cost reduction initiatives, and part/process improvement activities.
- Investigate and analyze root causes of external customer escapes; develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Initiate, prepare, and validate dimensional qualification packages to meet customer requirements.
- Conduct meetings and provide technical data to meet customer needs.
- Respond promptly to manufacturing issues and address root cause.
- Evaluate defects and dimensional integrity of components, determining appropriate actions.
- Define and implement control plans and FMEA per customer requirements.
- Collect, analyze, and prepare statistical data.
- Conduct design review meetings with customers to ensure production capability on new components.
- Develop production processes that are efficient and within cost estimates.
- Evaluate and implement cost reduction activities.
- Develop scrap and labor costs for cost modeling.
- Define, solicit, and review quotes for tooling and cores.
- Attend NPI meetings and provide input based on customer specifications for BOM, routings, and milestone plans.
- Define designs, coordinate construction, and validate finished tooling.
- Collect and analyze data to identify, institute, and monitor cost reduction efforts.

- Comply with all EHS rules required for the work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled and will complete a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution prior to start date.
- 1 year work experience, which can include a co‑op or internship.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Ability to lawfully obtain access to export‑controlled items; employment offers are conditioned upon this.
- 3 years of work experience in an engineering role.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Efficient analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, graphics, and statistical analysis software.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
